the smell stenched through the room
in spite of the candles, of the love making
of the movies of the dancing of the sheer
whiteness of the sheets
and the pink rugs
in spite of the music that lullabied them to sleep
after hours of reaching for clouds
with the tip of their tongues
in spite of that the smell of
something rotten pervaded the walls
the floor
and the ceiling of the entire house
